Global Symposium on Soil Information and Data 2024
The Global Symposium on Soil Information & Data (GSID24) was an international symposium to explore the important role of comparable and reliable soil data and information in addressing global challenges such as food security, climate change, and sustainable soil management.
The event was held in Nanjing, China, September 25-28, 2024. It was co-organised by the Food and Agriculture Organisation, its Global Soil Partnership and the Institute of Soil Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences.
The symposium targets over 1000 participants in-person and 5000 online, including policymakers, researchers, practitioners and private sector representatives, as well as global dignitaries and opinion leaders.
ANSIS team members Peter Wilson (ANSIS Project Leader) and Alistair Ritchie (Landcare Research New Zealand, project collaborator) attended the event and ANSIS project was represented through presentations:
- Innovative technology, soil information modelling and distributed query allow delivery of nationally standardised soil site and analytical data through a well-governed Australian National Soil Information System (ANSIS). Presenter: Peter Wilson.
- Information model drive harmonisation of distributed soil observation data for the Australian National Soil Information System (ANSIS). Presenter: Alistair Ritchie.
